Gravel through the Campo de Cartagena from Fuente Álamo

A flat loop through the Campo de Cartagena starting in Fuente Álamo. The rural tracks cross dry farmland with almond and carob trees and old windmills, with the Sierra de Carrascoy in the background to the north. Hard-packed dirt and fine gravel, with short stretches of rural tarmac linking the hamlets. It's a fast-rolling route, good for getting started on gravel or for clocking up kilometres in winter, when the weather here is usually kind. Water and food in Fuente Álamo; there's little shade out in the countryside. Avoid rainy days: the ground turns into heavy mud.
