The route

A short, hard climb to the summit of Peña Cabarga, the mountain you can see from all around the bay of Santander. It is a narrow road that climbs without a break to the viewpoint and the monument at the top, with very steep ramps in the final part: take short gears. At the top you get views over the bay, Santander and, on clear days, the Picos de Europa. Take care on the way down, because the road is narrow and cars come up at weekends. Best in spring and autumn, and early in the day in summer. Take water from the bottom: there are no fountains or bars on the climb.

Track based on OpenStreetMap (signposted climb CIMA CA01) (ODbL).
