The route

You set off from the San Antón quarter in Cuenca and ride up the Júcar valley on the CM-2105, between rock walls, to Villalba de la Sierra. There the road turns towards the Serranía and the serious part begins: a long, steady climb that passes the Ventano del Diablo, the viewpoint over the Júcar gorge (you reach it on foot, a few minutes from the road). At the top you continue on the CM-2104, through pine forest, to the Ciudad Encantada, where you can stop for water and something to eat in season. The way back descends via Valdecabras towards Cuenca. It is a mid-mountain route with tarmac in good condition and little traffic outside summer weekends. Best in spring and autumn: in winter there can be ice on the shaded slopes of the Serranía, and in July and August the heat bites in the valley. Bring lights: some stretches are in deep shade.

Track based on the editorial team's design over OpenStreetMap (ODbL).

Before you set off, check the state of the road or track and follow the traffic rules. Enjoy the ride.
