The route

A loop through Valderredible, the south of Cantabria that already looks towards Castile, starting in Polientes. The route follows the Ebro valley and climbs on tracks through oak woods, high moorland and cereal fields, near the area's rock-cut churches. Dirt and gravel tracks, with some rural tarmac between villages. There are short, punchy climbs you'll feel. In Polientes you'll find a bar and a shop; along the way there are small villages with fountains. Best from May to October: in winter there can be snow and mud on the moorland. Watch out for free-roaming livestock and close any gates you open.

Track designed by the editorial team on OpenStreetMap (ODbL).

Before you set off, check the state of the road or track and follow the traffic rules. Enjoy the ride.
