If you ride in Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera or El Hierro, or you're coming for a few days of cycling in the sun, here are the bike shops in Tenerife and the rest of the province that you'll find in the bicis.net directory: shops, workshops, hire and people who show you the islands. The data comes from "Ciclismo en cifras", as of 31 October 2026.
How many bike shops there are in Tenerife and the western islands
bicis.net lists 45 businesses for cyclists in the province. Of these, 40 are shops and 41 have a workshop. Almost every shop does repairs, and some workshops don't sell bikes, which is why there are more workshops than shops.
A note on reading the table: a business that is both a shop and a workshop counts in both rows, so the figures don't add up. The total of distinct businesses is the one in the first row.
What stands out most is hire: there are 16 businesses that hire bikes. It makes sense on islands where lots of people come to train in winter and would rather not check their bike in on the plane.
| Type of business | Businesses |
|---|---|
| Businesses for cyclists (total) | 45 |
| Shops | 40 |
| Workshops | 41 |
| Hire | 16 |
| Guided rides and trips | 3 |
| Cyclist-friendly accommodation | 1 |
| Bike fitting and training | 1 |
| Transport | 1 |

How to find your shop or workshop in the directory
Open the directory of bike shops in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and look at the map: on an island, the real distance is measured in bends and elevation, not in a straight line. Pick the business that's on the way to your route or close to where you're staying.
Each profile shows what the business itself publishes: address, phone, website and the services it offers (sales, workshop, hire, guided rides). Opening hours change with the season, so call before you go, especially if you need an urgent repair.
Many profiles don't have an owner yet. If you run a shop or workshop on the islands and you see yours, you can claim it for free and complete it with your photos, your opening hours and what you offer.
If you're coming to ride for a few days: hire, guides and where to stay
Hiring instead of bringing your own
You have plenty to choose from. Before you book, check three things:
- The size. Give your height and, if you know it, the size of your bike at home. The wrong size ruins a long climb.
- The gearing. You climb a lot here, and for a long time. Ask what the biggest sprocket is: low gearing is welcome on the summits.
- What's included. Helmet, lights, bottles, puncture kit and whether you can fit your own pedals and saddle. Lots of people travel with just those to feel at home on the bike.
In the busiest months, book ahead: the most common sizes are the first to go.
Riding with someone who knows the islands
The directory has 3 guided-ride and trip businesses in the province. They're handy if it's your first time and you want to know which way to climb with less traffic, where to stop for water and how the weather changes from one side of the island to the other.
Sleeping with your bike safe
For now there's 1 cyclist-friendly accommodation in the province, and the directory grows every week. When you book elsewhere, ask whether they have a locked room for the bike and where you can wash it when you get back.
Routes to break in your bike on the islands
bicis.net has 12 measured routes in the province, 7 of them climbs. Their average elevation gain is 1,378 m per route: almost everything here goes up. That's why the workshop matters more than elsewhere: brakes, pads and tyres wear quickly on long descents.
Two ideas to get started:
- The climb to Roque de los Muchachos from Santa Cruz de La Palma, from sea level to the island's highest point. It's the hardest route in the province in the directory.
- The BC 1 Ruta Norte through the Corona Forestal of Tenerife, from Las Raíces to Chío through pine forest, the longest in the province.
Check each route's profile before you set off and always bring something warm: on the summits the temperature drops a lot even if it's hot on the coast. Route data: © OpenStreetMap contributors.
What to check before choosing a shop or workshop
- Which bikes they work on. Not every shop handles e-bikes, suspension or tubeless. Ask before you bring yours.
- Spare parts. On the islands, an unusual part can take days to arrive. If your bike has something special, call first and ask whether they have it.
- Turnaround and quote. Ask for the price and the pick-up day before you leave it, especially in high season.
- If you're just passing through. Explain that you're leaving in a few days: many workshops prioritise a quick repair if they know.
If you want to compare with other provinces, Ciclismo en cifras has the shops, workshops and routes across Spain and Andorra, updated every hour.
