If you ride in the province, sooner or later you'll need a workshop: a puncture on the way down to the coast, gears that won't shift after an afternoon on the tracks of the Priorat, or a service before the sportive season. If you're looking for bike shops in Tarragona, the bicis.net directory has 27 businesses for cyclists, and almost all of them do repairs. Here's how to find yours and what to do once your bike is ready.
What's in the Tarragona directory
The data comes from «Ciclismo en cifras», as of 5 November 2026. A business that is both a shop and a workshop counts in both columns, so the numbers overlap.
| In the province of Tarragona | How many |
|---|---|
| Businesses for cyclists in the directory | 27 |
| Bike shops | 25 |
| Bike workshops | 25 |
| Businesses that hire out bikes | 5 |
| Clubs | 182 |
| Routes with GPX starting in the province | 61 |
| Climbs | 8 |
What this table tells you: if your shop sells bikes, it will most likely fix yours too. Of the 27 businesses, 25 have a workshop. And 5 hire out bikes, good news if you're coming from elsewhere to ride for a few days on the Costa Daurada or in the Terres de l'Ebre and don't want to bring your own bike.
How to find your shop or workshop
Go to the bike shops in Tarragona and search by your town or city. Each listing tells you where it is, how to get there and what services it offers. If all you need is a repair, go straight to the bike workshops in Tarragona.
Before you go, call
Opening hours change with the season and many workshops work by appointment, especially in spring, when everyone wants their bike ready at the same time. A phone call saves you the trip.
What to ask
- Whether they work on your type of bike: road, mountain, gravel or e-bike.
- How long a full service takes and whether they have parts for your groupset.
- Whether they can lend you a hire bike while they fix yours.
Do you have a shop or workshop?
If your business is already in the directory, claim the listing for free and keep it up to date yourself: opening hours, services, photos. If it isn't, sign up, also for free. Whoever is looking for a workshop on a Saturday morning will find you first time.
What to check before taking it to the workshop
You don't need to know mechanics to help your workshop. Five minutes at home saves time for whoever fixes it and saves you surprises on the bill.
- Brakes: squeeze the levers. If they almost reach the handlebar or squeal, mention it when you drop the bike off.
- Tyres: check for cracks, cuts or tread you can no longer see. With the salt air on the coast and the dust inland, they wear out sooner than you'd think.
- Chain: if it's noisy or jumps between sprockets, it may be stretched. Replacing it in time protects the chainrings and the cassette.
- Noises: note when the bike makes a noise (pedalling out of the saddle, over bumps, when braking). It's the most useful clue for the workshop.
If you have an e-bike, also bring the charger and the battery key: many workshops need to connect it to read the motor's error codes.
Bike ready: where to try it out
Tarragona has 61 routes with GPX on bicis.net, with 1,311.5 km in total and an average elevation gain of 394 m per route. 29.5% are suitable for gravel. There's a bit of everything: flat coast for winter riding, quiet roads between vineyards and climbs for anyone who wants to suffer a little.
For a long day on the road
The Priorat Extrem is the longest and hardest route in the province on the site: 104 km and 2,193 m of elevation gain between vineyard terraces and stone villages. Set off with your bike serviced, plenty of water and something to eat: there are long stretches without passing a single bar.
For a relaxed morning
If you prefer something shorter, the Pedals del vi through the DOQ Priorat route is 47.9 km with 958 m of elevation gain. It's a good way to test your bike after a trip to the workshop, calmly and stopping to take in the scenery.
In autumn and winter, the coast is the best option for short days: flat, mild and full of light. In summer, it's better to start early and head inland.
Who to ride with in Tarragona
If you ride alone and fancy a group, the province has 182 clubs in the bicis.net directory. All of them ride road and 72 also ride mountain; 9 ride track. Ask in your shop: many organise rides or know the local club. And if you want to see how the province compares with the rest, all the tables are in Ciclismo en cifras.
