Second-hand BH Lynx: price and what to check

If you are looking for a second-hand BH Lynx, here is how to tell which Lynx you are being offered, what to check before you pay and how much a used mountain bike goes for on bicis.net. The Lynx is the full-suspension bike from BH, the brand from Vitoria, and it sells a lot second-hand in Spain because there are so many on the trails.
First things first: «Lynx» is not a single bike. It is a family with several very different members, and the fair price depends on which one it is.
Which Lynx are you being sold
Lynx (the numbered ones: 4.8, 5, 6…)
The first Lynx models were full-suspension trail bikes with the Split Pivot suspension system, designed by Dave Weagle and used under licence. They were sold in carbon and aluminium, with 27.5 and later 29 wheels, and the number in the name usually indicates the approximate suspension travel. Around 2015 BH presented the carbon Lynx 4.8 as the most refined Lynx to date. They are versatile bikes, good for long rides in the hills.
Lynx Race
It arrived in 2017 and was BH's first XC full-suspension bike. It is lighter, with less travel and a more stretched-out position. Designed for marathons and races, it comes with very different builds, from Deore to XT or SRAM X01. If you want a full-suspension bike for racing or riding fast, this is the one. The most recent ones are sold as the Lynx Race Evo.
Lynx Trail
More travel and slacker geometry for descending. It is the trail and enduro Lynx: heavier than the Race, but much more confident when the terrain gets tricky.
iLynx
The electric version, with a mid-drive motor and integrated battery (iLynx Trail, iLynx Race…). It is bought by different rules, which you will find in the guide to used e-bikes.
Look at the sticker on the tube or ask for the serial number: with it, any BH shop can tell you the model and year. If the seller does not know which Lynx it is, that is a hint they do not know the bike well.
How much to pay for a used BH Lynx
bicis.net does not yet have enough Lynx listings on their own to give you a specific median. As a benchmark, this is what a second-hand mountain bike asks for on the website:
| Mountain bikes for sale | One in four asks less than (€) | Median (€) | One in four asks more than (€) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 98 listings | 450 | 813 | 1,380 |
Data from active «For sale» listings on bicis.net as of 30 October 2026. This is what the seller asks, not the final price.
How to place yours within that range:
- Around €450: older aluminium Lynx, with 26 or 27.5 wheels, a basic build or suspension that needs a service.
- Around the median: aluminium Lynx with 29 wheels or older carbon in good condition, with up-to-date maintenance.
- Above €1,380: recent carbon Lynx Race or Lynx Trail, with a good build and receipts.
To fine-tune by brand, also check how much a used BH is worth.
What to check before you pay
Rear suspension and linkages
The Split Pivot system pivots on bearings at the rear axle and in the linkages. Hold the bike by the saddle, lift the rear wheel and move it sideways: if you feel play or a clunk, the bearings are worn. It is not expensive to fix, but take it off the price.
Shock and fork
Ask when they were last serviced. Compress both with your body weight: they should go down smoothly, without noises or oil leaks, and come back without bouncing. A scratched fork stanchion is a guaranteed expense.
Frame
On carbon frames, look in good light at the underside of the down tube, where stones hit, and at the linkage joints. On aluminium ones, check the welds. Cracks or deep dents: do not buy it.
Drivetrain, brakes and seatpost
A worn chain, cassette and chainrings all add up. The brakes should bite without feeling spongy. If it has a dropper post, check that it goes fully down and up and does not sink on its own.
Paperwork
Ask for the receipt or, at least, the frame's serial number. BH can confirm the model with it, and it is your best protection against a stolen bike.
Known issues
We have not found any official recalls or faults acknowledged by BH on the Lynx. What does happen, as with any full-suspension bike, is normal wear of bearings and suspension if the bike has done a lot of riding without maintenance. If you want peace of mind, a workshop check before paying is money well spent.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a second-hand BH Lynx worth?
It depends on the version, the frame and the condition. As a benchmark, on bicis.net a used mountain bike asks a median of €813, and half of the listings are between €450 and €1,380 (98 listings, data as of 30 October 2026).
What is the difference between the Lynx Race and the Lynx Trail?
The Lynx Race is the XC full-suspension bike: light, with less travel and built for riding fast. The Lynx Trail has more travel and geometry for descending with more confidence.
How do I know what year a BH Lynx is?
With the frame's serial number. Any BH shop can tell you the model and year, so you can check it matches what the listing says.
Is the Split Pivot system reliable?
Yes, if it is maintained. It pivots on bearings that wear with use and mud: check they have no play and take the cost of replacing them off the price if they do.
Is a Lynx with 27.5 wheels worth it?
For anyone looking for a nimble, affordable full-suspension bike, yes. You will pay less than for a 29er, but make sure you can find spare parts for its suspension.
