The Orbea Oiz is Orbea's XC and marathon full-suspension bike, and one of the most sought-after second-hand bikes in Spain. 29-inch wheels, low weight and a design built to pedal fast for hours. If you're looking for a second-hand Orbea Oiz, here's how to tell which generation it is, which parts to check before you pay and how much people ask for a mountain bike on bicis.net.

What the Orbea Oiz is and who it's for

The Oiz is a short-travel full-suspension bike: just enough to gain grip and comfort without losing the efficiency of a hardtail. It's designed for MTB sportives, XC and marathon races, and long rides on trails with roots and rocks.

It suits riders who already ride a hardtail and want more control and less fatigue on long rides, and those who race sportives and want a fast bike that also forgives mistakes. If you ride fast tracks and want to spend less, look at its hardtail sister, the Orbea Alma. If you're after very technical descents, a trail bike like the Orbea Occam or the Rallon will suit you better.

Generations: how to tell them apart when buying used

The year makes a big difference to the bike you take home. Ask the seller for the year and the receipt, and look out for these details.

Up to 2023: Oiz and Oiz TR

Before the 2023 generation there were two versions. The plain Oiz, with less travel, more race-oriented. And the Oiz TR, with a bit more travel and a focus on enjoying the descents. You'll see both in listings: check the name on the frame and ask which fork and shock it has.

From 2023

The 2023 generation unified the range: every Oiz got the travel of the old TR. The geometry is more modern: slacker head angle, more reach and a lower bottom bracket, so it's more stable on descents. According to Orbea, the frame is stiffer than the previous one. On top of that, two bottles fit inside the frame in every size, including S, it runs wider tyres, has a dropper post on almost every build and the cables are routed through the headset.

What didn't change: the single-pivot design, with no complicated linkages, and the Squidlock remote lockout, which firms up the fork and shock at once from the handlebar.

Versions and builds

As with the Alma, the Oiz is sold with a carbon frame (M) and an aluminium frame (H), and with very different builds. Two Oiz bikes from the same year can vary a lot in price because of the fork, the shock, the groupset and the wheels. Orbea also lets you customise through its MyO programme, so ask for the receipt to know what's stock and what's been changed.

Second-hand price

There aren't enough listings of the Oiz alone yet to give you a reliable price. What we do have is the asking price for mountain bikes on bicis.net, which works as a reference:

CategoryListingsOne in four asks less than (€)Median (€)One in four asks more than (€)
Mountain984508131,380

Data as of 28 October 2026, with 218 listings in total. This is what sellers ask, not the final price. You'll find the full table in Ciclismo en cifras.

That table mixes simple hardtails with high-end full-suspension bikes. An Oiz, being full-suspension, usually sits above the median, and a recent carbon one at the top end or higher. If a recent carbon Oiz shows up very cheap, ask why and ask for the receipt.

What to check on a used Oiz

Orbea hasn't published any known defects or recalls for the Oiz. A full-suspension bike has more wearing parts than a hardtail, so take your time checking:

  • Shock: no oil or air leaks, no noises, and it returns without knocking. Ask when it was last serviced.
  • Swingarm bushings and bearings: hold the saddle, lift the rear wheel and move it sideways. If there's play or clicking, the bearings or bushings need replacing.
  • Squidlock lockout: operate it several times. It has to lock and release the fork and shock at the same time. Check the cable isn't frayed or stiff.
  • Fork: stanchions without scratches, no oil leaks and smooth travel.
  • Dropper post: it should go all the way up and down, without stopping halfway or sinking when you sit.
  • Frame, drivetrain, wheels and brakes: the same as on any mountain bike. On carbon, any deep knock deserves a look from a workshop.
  • That it's theirs: ask for the frame number and check it in the stolen bike register before you pay.

Sizes

The Oiz comes in several sizes. Watch out: since 2023 the geometry is longer, so the same size can feel more stretched than on an earlier Oiz. If you're between two sizes, try the bike before paying or ask the height of the person who rode it.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a second-hand Orbea Oiz worth?

It depends on the year, the frame and the build. As a reference, mountain bikes on bicis.net ask a median of €813, and half the listings are between €450 and €1,380 (98 listings, data as of 28 October 2026). An Oiz usually sits higher.

What's the difference between the Oiz and the Oiz TR?

Up to 2023, the TR had more travel and a more descent-oriented focus. Since the 2023 generation every Oiz has that travel and there's no TR any more.

What is Squidlock?

It's Orbea's remote lockout: a single lever on the handlebar firms up the fork and the shock at once for climbing or riding on tarmac.

Does the Orbea Oiz have any known defects?

Orbea hasn't published any known defects or recalls for the Oiz. Check above all the shock, the bearings and the lockout, as on any used full-suspension bike.
