Second-hand Orbea Rallon: price and what to check

If you're looking for a second-hand Orbea Rallon, here's what you need to get it right: which generation you're looking at, what people ask today for a used mountain bike on bicis.net and what to check before you pay. The Rallon is a bike for descending fast and pedalling back up, so it has usually had an intense life. Well checked, it's a buy that gives you a lot of bike for the money.
What the Rallon is and which generation you have
The Rallon is Orbea's enduro bike: a long-travel full suspension, designed for technical trails, rough descents and enduro races. It's the big sister of the Occam, which is more for trail and long rides. If your idea is to rack up kilometres on tracks, the Rallon will be too much; if you like riding down over rocks and roots, it's exactly what you're after.
Orbea launched it in 2013 and has updated it every few years. For you, as a buyer, there are three stages worth telling apart:
- The first Rallons (up to 2017): smaller wheels and geometry of their time. Today they're the cheapest and make sense if the price is right and the maintenance is up to date.
- The 29-inch Rallon (2018 to 2021): carbon frame, big wheels and a chip to change the geometry. In 2019 it got a new linkage that made it more progressive.
- The new Rallon (from 2022): longer, slacker geometry, revised kinematics, a storage compartment inside the down tube, versions with an air or coil shock and an extender to fit a smaller rear wheel (the «mullet» setup).
How to tell which one it is at a glance: if it has a hatch on the down tube to store tools or a tube, it's from 2022 or later. If it doesn't and it has 29-inch wheels front and rear, it's from the 2018 to 2021 stage. Even so, ask for the receipt and check the serial number: that's what confirms the real year.
What to pay for a used Orbea Rallon
On bicis.net there aren't enough Rallon listings yet to give a median for the model itself. The useful reference is its category's: what people ask for the mountain bikes for sale on the site.
| Category | Listings | One in four asks less than (€) | Median (€) | One in four asks more than (€) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mountain | 98 | 450 | 813 | 1,380 |
Data at 30 October 2026, from 218 active sale listings on bicis.net. It's what sellers ask, not the final price. Source: Ciclismo en cifras.
Careful about reading this table too literally. The mountain category includes everything from entry-level hardtails to high-end full suspensions, and a carbon Rallon is at the top. Normally a Rallon in good condition asks above the median, and a recent one with a good build, above the top of the range. What moves the price most:
- The generation: 2022 onwards fetches clearly more than the earlier ones.
- The build: the level of suspension, brakes and drivetrain weighs more than the year.
- Maintenance: a Rallon with serviced suspension and receipts is worth more than an identical one with no history.
- Use: races, bike parks and uplifts wear it much more than weekend rides.

What to check before you buy it
An enduro bike works hard. Check it calmly, ideally with the bike clean and in daylight.
Suspension
Ask when the fork and shock were last serviced, and ask for the receipt. Look at the fork stanchions: no scratches or marks. Check there's no oil on the seals or on the shock body. Compress both several times: they should go down and up with no noises, no harsh knocks and without staying sagged.
Linkage and bearings
With the bike on the ground, hold the rear wheel and push sideways: there should be no play in the rear triangle. Lift the rear and drop it a little: a metallic clunk usually means worn bearings. Replacing them isn't expensive, but factor it into the price.
Frame
Look closely at the underside of the down tube and the bottom bracket area, which is where the stones hit. Look for cracks, star-shaped chipped paint or repairs. Also check the stays near the rear wheel and the shock mount.
Everything else
- Dropper post: it should go all the way up and down and not sink when you sit on it.
- Brakes: discs without deep scoring and a firm lever. Pads with material left.
- Drivetrain: chain, cassette and chainring with reasonable wear, and shifting that's crisp.
- Wheels: rims without knocks or dents and tight spokes.
- Extras of its generation: if it's from 2022 onwards, check that the compartment closes properly; if it's being sold as a «mullet», ask whether the original extender comes with it.
Known faults and paperwork
We don't know of any official recall of the Rallon. Even so, check with the serial number on Orbea's website or at an official shop. Always ask for the purchase receipt, especially because the frame has a manufacturer's warranty for the first owner. And never pay in advance without seeing the bike.
Your size
Orbea sizes the Rallon by letters. Since 2022 the geometry is longer, so the size you had on an older bike may not be the right one on a new one. Before you decide, check Orbea's size chart for that bike's year and, above all, try it: get on, ride down a short slope standing on the pedals and check you reach the handlebar comfortably.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a second-hand Orbea Rallon worth?
It depends on its generation, its build and its condition. As a reference, on bicis.net mountain bikes ask a median of €813 (98 listings, data at 30 October 2026), and a carbon Rallon is usually above that.
How do I know what year a Rallon is?
Those from 2022 onwards have a compartment in the down tube. Those from 2018 to 2021 have 29-inch wheels front and rear without that compartment. To be sure, ask for the receipt and look at the serial number.
What's the difference between the Rallon and the Occam?
The Rallon is the enduro bike, with more travel and designed for descending. The Occam is the trail bike, lighter and nimbler for long rides with climbs.
Does a Rallon climb well?
Yes, it climbs under pedal power without any problem, although more slowly than a trail bike. If almost all your rides are on tracks, a bike with less travel might suit you better.
What's the first thing I should check?
The suspension and the linkage bearings: they're the most expensive things to sort out. Ask about the last service and ask for the receipt.
